History and onward…
The Well Youth Center began its journey in the fall of 2003 through a youth program of one of the local churches. The center’s first location was on the corner of Main Street and First Avenue SE. Then, with a great leap of faith, leaders of The Well decided it was time to relocate to a larger facility. In February of 2006 the center was then moved to 106 Main Street NE.
In January of 2010 the Board, along with staff, filed for a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. The main purposes being: (1) contributors may claim donations to The Well Youth Center as tax exempt, (2) more funding opportunities will be available to The Well.
The Well Youth Center has, and hopes to continue, serving youth from the Maple River area communities of Amboy, Good Thunder, Mapleton and Minnesota Lake and is supported by area churches, businesses, community organizations, as well as individuals.
The Well provides a safe after school environment and offers a place where youth can visit with peers, study, play games, create crafts and learn life skills. Youth are also provided with healthy snacks and beverages while they await their parents return from work. The Well offers Christian-values-based sessions and has implemented a goal-orientated program called The Wellness Project where trained coaches meet with youth on a weekly basis. As a service to the communities, we also encourage and involve youth in community events.
The Well Youth Center is always in need of donations and volunteers to keep its mission going. All contributions, both monetary and in-kind, are much appreciated. Please consider The Well Youth Center as one of your tax exempt donations!
